If you watch chinese / hong kong drama relating to god / goddess stories, all of us should know, in the show, they always say, 1 day in heaven is equivalent to 10 years on earth. It's the same concept if you relate it back to the movie.
Again, it is still up to individual to interpret this movie. No matter what you have understood, it is really a worth watching movie. I very much believe everyone of us will learn something valuable about life from this movie.
